NBD is inviting secondary and college students to participate in its essay competition on Cybersecurity in recognition of NBD’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month (June).
Topic: Psychology of Online Scams: Techniques used by Cybercriminals.
This Cyber Security Competition will help us understand Cyber Security awareness levels among school students which in turn will promote Cyber Security Awareness and its importance among students, parents and schools.
The unprecedented times of COVID-19 have forced everyone, including children, to intensify their reliance on digital platforms. The transition to online education has produced positive results; but despite this, children are being exposed even further to the dangers of cyber threats.
As a parent, teacher and Bank, we are obligated to protect our children against cyber threats as they are the most vulnerable and can easily fall victims to cyber traps. It is important to educate children on simple online scams, like phishing, ransomware and other malware, which are designed to infiltrate devices and steal personal data.
Essay Competition
CONTEST REQUIREMENTS:
- Style: Persuasive (not academic, no footnotes)
- Length: Maximum 500 words
- Font Type: Times New Roman
- Content: Font size 12
- Line spacing:1.5
- Format: Essays can be submitted in word or pdf format
- Limit: One entry per person.
- Essays must be original and unpublished
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
All students, from high school to college level, are eligible. Non-students are automatically disqualified.
HOW TO ENTER:
Essays should be emailed as an attachment to [email protected].
The following should be included on page one (1) of the essay and also in the body of your email:
- Your full name;
- The name of your school;.
- Educational level (high school or college).
COMPETITION DEADLINE: June 26, 2023
The essays are judged based on two categories: High School and College Students
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
High School:
- 1st place: $300
- 2nd place: $200
- 3rd place: $150
College:
- 1st place: $300
- 2nd place: $200
- 3rd place: $150
Winning essays will be announced on June 30, 2023. They will be published on NBD’s social media pages and website.
